We Need to Talk About Kevin

This movie is fucking intense. Perhaps one of the best I’ve ever seen. Extremely well written, directed, acted, edited, scored, sound designed, etc. A bit abstract, all amazing. I would suggest just seeing it without reading too much about it.

maurizio cattelan at the guggenheim

italian-born artist maurizio cattelan is considered to be one of the most provocative contemporary artists of our time. His controversial work draws on today’s popular culture, history and organized religion in a profound way, injected by doses of humor, in an attempt to lighten the vehement themes at hand. his cultural critique is expressed through disturbingly hyperrealistic sculptures which reveal contradictions inherently apparent at the core of today’s society.

SKINEMAX

“Skinemax is Koyaanisqatsi for a generation raised on late night television and B-movie VHS tapes. It’s long form entertainment for short attention spans. An hour long VJ odyssey, it will move your body and warp your mind.

A nostalgic look back at a half remembered childhood growing up in the 80s and early 90s, Skinemax takes a close look at the culture of that era. The images that motivated, delighted, and terrified us on the silver screen, set to propulsive modern music that pines for a simpler time.”

Same Shit Different Day

When I was 14 years old, I rode a skateboard and carried a MeanStreak in my back pocket to catch tags. FUCT came into existence at that time in my life. I had to hide my shirts from moms and change after I left the house. Some teachers at my high school made us turn them inside out. Along with a handfull of others, Erik basically invented streetwear.
